After Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrome was found in the U.S. and a breeder in the Netherlands also reported symptoms in a foal, we quickly made the decision to test our stallions, to offer more clarity about the situation in Denmark.

The results from the DNA lab in Netherlands have just come: neither Gørklintgårds Shaolin nor Gørklintgårds Santos are carriers of the recessive gene for WFFS.

This means that they cannot produce a foal with the disease - even if the dam is a bearer of WFFS.

We are of course pleased that our stallions are free, but at the same time we would encourage people to keep calm: In nearly 50 years of breeding we have never seen WFFS symptoms in a newborn foal. However, it is not the same as that the disease should not be taken seriously and that we, as breeders, would like to make as informed choices as possible.
